Cats groom themselves for more than one reason
Cats groom themselves not only to keep clean, but for several other health reasons. When your cat is grooming they may be trying to regulating their body temperature or instinctively attempting to eliminate any parasites, infection, and or allergies.
Is your cat under-grooming?
Self-grooming will help your cat look good and feel good, but if she becomes ill or hurt she may stop cleaning herself. This could be a sign of arthritis, pain, or dental issues related to health problems or natural aging. If your cat's coat is harsh and greasy, developing Small mats of fur on her body and or tail, these are signs of under-grooming.
